How to Save $100 Monthly Easy
Are you staring at your budget every month trying to figure out how you can possibly save money? There are some easy ways you can cut back that you probably aren’t thinking about. Like when you move and forget to pack the pictures on the wall or forget about unpacking the fridge. Those things that you overlook because you’ve grown so accustomed to them. Keep reading for 8+ ideas to add an extra $100 back to your bank account.
Saving on Groceries
Use apps! I cannot stress this enough. If you are one of those people who resists the whole app-using thing to save money. Think that you’re getting scammed or something. You’re not! At least if you are using the right ones.
Here are my favorites that can save you a boatload on your grocery bill:
- Ibotta: Scope out deals and sales, scan your grocery receipt and save money. It’s super easy.
- Checkout 51: Works very similar to Ibotta: Get weekly offers, buy from any store, snap a photo of the receipt and earn cash back!
Saving on Your Shopping Trips
Use a list. This will keep you on track and avoid overspending.
Do some research ahead of time to find what’s on sale and what stores to target.
Shop online using a cashback app like TopCashBack.
Cut out Eating Out
Cut back on eating out at fast food, casual or fine dining restauarnts. Is this too hard for you to go cold turkey? Then reduce your eating out trips. Instead of 8 eat-outs per month, try 4.
This includes things like grabbing snacks at the gas station while you are pumping gas or grabbing a Starbucks drink on the run.
Don’t use Restaurant Delivery
It’s so tempting I know. When I completed my recent move, relocating to Houston, my husband and I went crazy eating out, especially with restaurant delivery. How easy is it to look at a menu online, click a few buttons to order and walk to your front door to get your food? We must’ve spent at least a few hundred that first month, just on eating out. Ridiculous!
When it makes sense?
You’ll save money on gas with restaurant delivery but those delivery fees add up. Will you really use $10 in gas driving to pick up your food? Probably not. If you must do delivery, try to aim for the restaurants with the lowest fees or better yet, free delivery!
I’ve heard Uber Eats features restaurants with free delivery from time to time. They’ll email you offers when deals are happening. Just sign up to their email list to get the inside scoop.
Unplug appliances you aren’t using
Do you know about this? Appliances use energy even if they aren’t actively in use. If they are plugged in, they are using energy, which contributes to a higher electric bill. Try this for a month, unplugging toasters, tvs and other electronics and see what a difference it makes in your bill.
Sign up for automatic payments
It happens to most of us. Life happens and you pay a bill late. And, you get hit with a late fee. Ok, a $10 or $20 late fee won’t break the bank but if you do this a few times a year, it definitely adds up.
To avoid these late fees, join auto pay so payments come out to pay your creditors on or before your due date. Easy.
Join Rewards programs
Do you frequent an ice cream shop or are loyal to a grocery chain in your area? Sign up to their rewards programs. In addition to getting access to money saving offers, a lot of rewards programs come with added perks like birthday freebies, cashback incentives, and more. Don’t miss out on this.
Leave your Major Carrier for Pay-as-You-Go
My cell phone bill is over $300 per month! When I called my carrier to complain, the rep told me, his bill was $450 per month, with his discount! I was floored.
I did a partnership with a Pay-as-you-go cell phone carrier, FreedomPop and was so surprised at all the positive feedback I read from current customers. Many pay nothing monthly. This is no scam, either. This company really has caught onto something. There’s tons of ways to structure your plan and you can set up a la carte plans, which will keep your bill low, like at $5 to $10 per month. Not joking. Check them out.
Carpool
Don’t freak out. This isn’t as bad as you think and it’ll give you a nice break from driving in crazy rush hour everyday. If your company doesn’t do carpool, form your own carpool group. With a group of 5, one person drives a different day of the week. So, one day you drive, four days you ride. Save on gas like crazy doing this.
